Has any body removed the SEAT badge off the grill and smoothed the rear Badge/handle on the boot? Hello I am sorry my German is not so good even though my Grandmother was born Koln, I collect my Artic Grey Cupra4 TDI from Holland on 01/03/2002 and will be the only such car in England. I have wanted one for a long time and have finally found a company to insure the car as it is not available in the UK. Can you guys please help with information as no-one here know about the car! What aftermarket tuning is there? Does the car need it? Wheel 18" wheels do you recommend? Is there an induction kit available? Has anyone fitted a Panasonic Sat Nav? How do I fit 2 Din sized head unit's in the dashboard? What the best Cupra4 TDI on the website? When I travel abroad are there any Local Meetings? Is the Cupra TDI popular on the Continent? How does the car compare with the Golf GT TDI150 2 WD we have in England? Have you any magazine reviews of the car? thanks guys and sorry again about the language Darrell

Hi Darrell!

There were a lot of questions in your post, but I'll try to answer as many of them as I possibly can:

- There are some guys on this board who have 18'' wheels on their cars, I don't exactly know who has some, but just look a bit in the "Tuning" area of this board. I myself like the "Superturismo" wheel from OZ-Racing, but this one is actually quite expensive.

- There are quite a lot companies who offer tuning for your car, but the ones I know are all on the continent. The most famous should be JE-DESIGN. They do a lot of tuning on the Seat Leon and the Cupra. But it also depends on what you're looking for. I don't know how the situation is the UK...

- Actually there are quite a few meetings we organize here. Just look in the "Treffen" area, there are meetings of Seat Leon drivers nearly all over Germany.

- The Cupra TDI is NOT available in Germany either, so you can't really say that it is very popular here. It would probably be quite popular, but Seat doesn't sell the Cupra TDI here in Germany. VW says they have problems manufacturing enough engines to sell the Cupra TDI in Germany. It is a great car, I get mine on Tuesday of next week. I also bought it in the Netherlands via a German company who import these cars to Germany.

- As the car is not sold in Germany there are also no magazine reports out of Germany. The Austrian and Swiss members here could probably help you more here...

- Because of the same reasons it will be hard to compare the Cupra to the VW Golf. I have driven the Golf with this engine and I can say that you've got trouble to get all of the power on the ground. You have a lot of wheelspin when you try to accelerate on wet surfaces. The 4WD of the Leon is said to be a lot better there. Otherwise the Golf should be lighter than the Cupra... I can't compare it yet, I haven't had the opportunity to drive the Cupra TDI yet.

You should try to use the search function of this board. There is a "Suchen" button on the top of the main screen, you can find a lot there, nearly everything you need.

I don't mind to write any english either. I can use some practice ;) Hope I was able to help you a bit...

Greetings
Matthias

Hi Darrell,

I also live in England, but I "only" got a 1,8 turbo.
I have fitted the original navigation. Which required putting a 2 Din slot in. A web page with an introduction can
be found here :
unfortunately it is in German.

@ mephisto

Thanks for the linke, but I think I should be alright with the language - I live in England for about 3 years now (don't know which smily :) or :-( )
But I am not sure if it is worth while translating it - he might just want to have a look at the pictures first.

cheers PHil

Hey thanks for the welcome english flag not really needed, I had two German Granmothers and one French and a Irish wife so I'm a bit messed up!

I have to convert the head lights, what is all the talk about Xenon headlights we have rules for them over here they must have self leveling and washers, are the standard lights so bad?
What is all the bickering about wheel size for the replica porsche wheels is it the offset? what are the rules for window tinting in Germany will the police stop me?
Darrell

I think someone can create some kind of a combined flag... :D
So what do we have?? Germany, France, England, Ireland... that should result into a nice flag... :D

Xenon headlights? I think I didn't quite get the question, but as far as I know it is not possible to upgrade the Cupra with a Xenon lightkit. It not possible to install the light washers into the front spoiler of the car...

BTW there were some complaints about the normal lights. But you can exchange the regular lights with the Phillips Vision Plus, they are said to be very good though very expensive...

thanks maybe I will make my own flag.
How many Kilometres till your engine was fully run in?
how low did you keep the rev's to begin with?
does your can need oil often?
what is the service interval?
where's the best place you have driven the car?
is the four wheel drive good in ice/snow?
regards Darrell :) :]

Darrell I can't answer all of your questions... there are just too many of them. As already said you can basically find answers to all of your questions in this forum. Nearly everything was dicussed here already. You just have to use the "Suchen"-function of this board.

And all the other guys here could at least try to HELP ME! I'm doing the Cambridge First right now and I need the practice, but I can't handle all the questions on my own...

WO SEIT IHR? Packt mal euer angestaubtes Englisch aus!! ;) Zur Not helfe ich ja mit meinen bescheidenen Kenntnissen wenn es nicht reicht...

please can you foward the information about problems with the150 TDI engines please! should Inot collect my car on the 1st of March ?(

  • english Cupra4 TDI onwer Beitrag #11
service intervalls:

all 15000 km oil
all 30000 km inspection
all 60000 or 90000 km additional "tooth belt" change (depends on engine)

"run in" (translated from thx)
Actually I wanted to write no progress report about "running in" the car, but when I have read then in the manual what stands there about "driving" ....
The manual does not say something in the direction " any more " than 3/4 of the maximum speed ...
I find this statement, however, very unhappily chosen. Should one be allowed to drive in the first 4 ways(walks) fully material not to turn then the vehicle in 5. gear about 3300 rpm? Nevertheless, this does no sense. Nevertheless, while driving it is a matter of taking there the engine gently on the rated power.
I have done this as follows:
To 500 kms - no more than 2000 rpm and no full power! Industriously switch, because also the transmission must warm up.
500 - 1000 kms - no more than 2500 rpm, no full power and in the transmission touching.
1000-1500km - to 3000 rpm - no full power!
1500-2000 - to 3500 rpm - the first short full branch accelerations
In 2000-3000 - to 4000 rpm, however, no long full power.
Then from 3000 km I have not run any more consciously and then am also immediately on the highway and has done a long full power, around while running by the "low-rev" driving possibly to occurred deposits in the valves etc freizufahren.
To what I have still paid attention while "running": NO short distance - always beautifully "cruisings" done on the distances with which one must also switch and which are hilly.
To 15000 kms one could observe with the car, however, a constant performance increase. He ran much better and used less... Actually optimally *g *
Oh yes, oilconsumption is with me also very slightly for a TDI - approx. 0,3 l on 10tkm.
There may be many which would not have to be run mine, a modern engine anyway any more etc
But I think there in a different way:
The better the vehicle has driven, the more enjoyment and less problems one has later with it ...

Someone said that there are Problems with the engine.
But Cupra(he is a owner of Cupra TDi) said that these are only rumours. I think if there any problems they will be eliminated during the production of the engine
